Don't Shrug Off Rugs

What do pugs, hugs, and rugs all have in common? Besides the obvious rhyme, they all can make a home feel inviting and complete. When it comes to pugs and hugs you’ll have to look else where, but we do have an excellent selection of rugs at FIFTEENTH AND HOME.

In our collection you’ll find all kinds of colors, patterns, sizes, materials, and shapes. All these options can be a tad bit overwhelming, but if you know what to look for it’s easy as 1 2 3.

  1. Size and shape is the best place to start. If the room is a square, go with a square or round rug. Rectangle rugs go well in rectangular rooms, just make sure the rug is orientated the same way as the room.

The goal is to get a rug that is big enough to fit the entire seating area on it, or at least the front legs of everything. This helps the room feel centered and organized.

  2. Color and pattern will be next on the list. The key here is balance. If the room already has a lot of bold colors and patterns, a simple one color rug might be best. On the other hand, a vibrant rug can be a terrific accent piece in a neutral space.

A rug will almost always take up more square footage than any other piece in the room, so plan accordingly.

  3. Material is often forgotten, but still important. Just like with colors and patterns, try to balance the other material in the room with the material of the rug. A short and firm rug pairs well with soft and cushy upholstery. However, a longer shag might do well with a smooth leather.

While the look of the material is important, the feel is equally important if you enjoy taking barefoot strolls through your house.

These three steps should steer you in the right direction, but if you still some need more advice come by the shop. We would love to help you find the perfect rug.
